after the third use, there was a broken black seal floating in the glass chamber. Has somebody an idea where it belongs as I have a replacement? It is not really clear from the sketch in the handbook / website.
I don't know where this seal came from but it happened to me as well. It definitely impacts the function of this unit. This product is definitely a functional and finicky prototype that only makes a decent espresso with additions (paper filters) which is both disappointing but unsurprising. It's kind of fun to use but my bialetti brikka or now vintage Kaliffa still makes a better tasting coffee with more ease and consistency and whole lot less faff. My attraction to this product was being able to make hotel room coffee when travelling for work without a stove/hotplate and only a kettle. It does that and makes okay coffee, but it would be cool to see this product evolve into something that is more reliable and easier to achieve good results with.
I will be dismantling my unit today to try to figure out where that seal goes. I was one of the people that suggested they offer replacement seals in an early backer survey because as someone who works on my own mountain bike suspension I knew, with all that pressure and all those seals this would be a high maintenance product. This is why I love the old brikka with metal weight and dislike the new silicone valve version (anyone have old brikkas for sale?)
Update, I'm fairly confident this o-ring just holds the screen inside the upper chamber down because there seems to be no other possible location and I noticed my screen was loose when I made coffee this morning. I guess I'm imagining that it impacts the function because it does nothing other than keep the screen from moving around.
Anyone receive a solution to this? I have the same mystery black seal. all other seals listed are not accounted for. BTW, I ordered the seal kit and it does not come with a full set of replacement seals.
On both manual instructions and their vÃdeo, this o-ring holding th inner screen is never mentioned.
I'm also in the same situation where it broke and the screen is now lose. Got a pack of generic o-rings but haven't had the time/patience to remove the glass, or maybe try to just remove the top funnel.
Looking at the size I would guess that it is one of the 4 seals that are supposed to be on the piston. the two on the top of the piston are both smaller than the handle. That looks to be bigger, the instructions on replacing the seals can be followed in the book to remove the piston. The size in your picture looks like it is one of two seals on the bottom of the piston.
The mesh can be removed by using a flat, jeweler’s screwdriver at one of two points around the edge of the screen, where there is a small gap in the plastic for this exact purpose
Hey, come over to reddit.com/r/CoffeJack/ and continue our discussions there. This place is no more nice to stay.

There is one more black oring, on the plastic tube in the water chamber holding down the metal screen. So it may be this one

I still haven't seen the detailed dismantling instructions that the book says to "see the website"!
I have the same black, broken seal in main water chamber. I too have dismantled and can not see any deals missing.
Same thing here.
