Hi :) during my testing for bottom paper filter, I also confirmed the best way to get the pucks out easy and clean, as someone else allready wrote about - just blown into the bottom hole in the basket (with the plug removed of cause). Pucks with the paper on bottom downt like to go out by tapping, but blowing them out seems to be so easy :D no mess, one blow

I have tested the paper filter on bottom as James Hoffmann suggested in his video, and it seems to very much solve the flow through the parts that are otherwise blocked and get underextracted. So it seems to be the best/most simple solution as the flow does not get too fast as when I opened the bottom in naked conversion. But its way harder to knock the puck out. :)

Hello there - where are you guys? We are betatesting the hell out of our units, we have identified multiple points of failure, multiple critical and minor issues .... I think its very much time that you show up, and join the process, dpnt you think? There are multiple issues that should and can be fixed for the next run because failures make the units unusable without modification (falling off OWV, water getting where it is not supposed to and circulatin up bypassing even OPV ... ), or not pleasant to use (lack of correct sized oring to hold the shower screen, bad distribution of water over puck - making the Divot ...) So ... I would really like to see you here and active .

I just wanted to share this , because I was not aware of it untill I did another disassembly. But its like really obvious when I think about it so ... There is always some moisture trapped inside above the water dispersion part and inside the piston part. It used to be boiling water so it was probably disinfected well, but it will do whatever it does depending on how long interval there is between using CJ - so at least for me, this is another reason to do one preheat cycle with boiling hot water to also clean and rinse that old water out. Maybe if it was possible to simply pull the piston out without disassembly and let it dry it would be nicer ... I always want my tools to be clean and dry when not in use.

Basket probably needs redesign - list of problems so far: flimsy screen with logo instead of holes in the middle, bottom plastic part blocking flow on most of the screen area straight walls so its harder to tap out the puck hard to clean under the screen without removing screen and oring confusion about the plug (some people think it makes it pressurised, including James Hoffmann in the video) best to use standard basket of smaller diameter (45 mm baskets exist) there should be a propper naked basket version option

Pumping either moves less water than it should or stops moving water at all. More info to be added by those affected and me when we find oput more. Seems to be sometimes fixable by pumping holding and fast releasing ... but works only in some cases.

As I said on KS and here, and James Hoffmann said in his video, the water is not distributed well over the puck, and causes a disruption and forming of divot in the center of the puck, probably causing a channel in the center. I recommended using paper filter on top, and I am very pleased Mr. Hoffmann recommended the same in his video. It helps a lot. I believe the problem is both in the showersreen and the design of the water dispersion plastic part above, and I am not sure if there is something that we can do to make it better other than the paper filter on top. Maybe a very fine metalic mesh filter onlayed into the showersreen might help, and such fine meshfilters are produced to be used as filters in aeropress, but I am not sure it would work or that it will not cause another problem with say the OPV or other parts. So at the moment I believe paper filter on top is the best. Or correctly sized very thin puckscreen like the one used in flair 58X (but way thinner) ... that would eliminate the need showerscreen and problems with it falling off too :D but I am not aware of any such puckscreen of correct size and thickness.

Many people including myself report the water dispersion screen to just fall off at some point, and when put back it falls of again. I did not have any oring on my CJ, other seem to have some but too small. User @snetta reported that using larger oring (38mm x 1.5mm) helped to solve it.

Hello, I have decided to make a propper buglist since we are being a kind of betatesters. So please if you have ideas what to add, comment bellow and I will add to the list. I will also make a threads dedicated to every issue so we can document it for Hribarcain, or discuss our ideas about it. Water dispersion screen keeps falling off, this one seems to be quite frequent, caused by lack of oring or not well dimensioned one probably - link to thread here https://www.coffeejack.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/buglist-item-1-water-dispersion-screen-coming-off Water is not dispersed properly and evenly on top of the puck, seems to come mostly in the center disrupting the puck there and causing a channel - link to thread here https://www.coffeejack.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/buglist-item-2-uneven-water-dispersion Plastic part that holds water dispersion screen - when you are to assemble it back, I see no way to know if I aligned the tiny holes for the screws, it should be pretty simple to make it such that it autoalignes, maybe small plastic pin on one side and hole on other? Pumping moves less or no water, this seems to be quite frequent too, cause unknown for now - link to thread here https://www.coffeejack.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/buglist-item-4-pumping-moves-less-or-no-water Spontaneous breaking of the glass part afer use - link to thread here https://www.coffeejack.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/buglist-item-5-spontaneous-breaking-of-the-glass-part Basket design overall - more info in the separate thread - link to thread here https://www.coffeejack.co.uk/forum/general-discussion/buglist-item-6-basket-design-problems Over pressure valve seems to limit pressure lower than 9bar, judging from extractions I had. It may be related to point number 2, and there may be some larger spread of exactly when the OPV opens. But I just can not get the pressure where I would like it to be. Tamper diameter is slightly smaller - not a big issue, but come on, its custom made for coffee jack, it needs to fit perfectly

Hello everyone, here are some pictures of opening the lower part of the basket on lathe, worked rellay well. And here is a first test done with it. the bottom filter did not break so, all is fine so far. Not the best shot by any means, not enough pressure and all .. but it is a success anyway :) here is a picture that demonstrates the reason why I did that, the dark parts are not extracted . You can see even in the middle the stupid logo without holes also makes the part not extract well. I will see how the puck looks after this in a few days when it dries And I will report on that here :) EDIT: just to be very clear, what I am doing is not at all safe, with the thin flimsy screen, so dont try this if you do not want to risk close contact with hot water if the screen fails. But untill we find a stronger replacement, I will keep testing the original one.
